Arba Minch is a town of 85,000 located about 500 km south of Addis Ababa. The name is Amharic meaning "forty springs". The lush, forested hillside below the city bubbles with fresh water. Arba Minch is known as a source for fruit, including mango, banana, orange, apple, guava and pineapple as well as forits fish farms. Nearby is Nechisar National Park.

The town is served by the Arba Minch Airport, an easy flight from Addis Ababa, providing a launch point for travel to southern Ethiopia.
