Harar (Harrar, Harer) is a city in eastern Ethiopia. Harar Jugol, an ancient walled city, was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2006. It is considered the fourth holiest city of Islam with 82 mosques, three of which date from the 10th century, and 102 shrines.

A short drive from Harar, through the surreal rock formations of the Valley of Marvels, is the town of Babile which hosts a camel market that is well worth the visit.
